Anyone else have a big bag of guilt (aka alkaline batteries) that they need to discard in a sustainable fashion in order not to hate themselves?
I do try to use rechargeable batteries but when the smoke detector is beeping or the kids are distraught because their toy dinosaur/ minions toothbrush/ bubble machine has stopped working I often give in to disposable batteries.
According to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), each year Americans throw away more than three billion batteries 😱
Thankfully, Go Recycle has an initiative that takes the zinc and manganese from old batteries and creates awesome things like new batteries or micronutrients for plants!
I’m glad innovative projects like Go Recycle can help us all do better as they divert our waste away from the landfill!
